The VBA has stepped up preassure on builders in relation to illegal building works - not complying with the building permit. This builder found himself at the end of a $14,000 fine, as well as various legal and rectification costs.
This case highlights the importance of ensuring that the building permit is right, and that it’s complied with. We see similar situations all the time, and encourage the VBA to continue keeping pressure on those builders who do the wrong thing. Although it spells pain for some, we will all benefit from better building stock in the end.
